Firsts for Finn

A little over one month since our last post and there have been lots of changes and lots of special moments: Finn's first Halloween, first Thanksgiving and an introduction to his first move. We're settled into our lovely new home which will be more kid friendly for Finn and Sprout (and Sidney and Marley). (Thank goodness Grandpa and Mimi came to help otherwise we'd STILL be in the old house). Finn was fascinated by the movers and all the commotion that ensued. He's discovering all kinds of new favorite foods (pear yogurt, butternut squash) and learning how much fun it is to squish food in his fingers. We'll start with the newest pics first and be sure to check out the video below this posting!

Dad and I were wiped out from moving--all those heavy boxes and unpacking can wear a guy down.

Thanksgiving! Aunt Nancy and her friend Lisa generously made us my first Thanksgiving dinner and the first in my new house! Mama first fed me butternut squash, but I tried my hand at Aunt Nancy's sweet potatoes. Somehow Sid seemed to get more than I did...

Our family photo.

My last night in my first room. Daddy says I'm just like my late Grandma Carmichael because I sleep so soundly and always wake up in a great mood...

Kinda like this...

Mama said we had too much stuff so we had a moving sale. It was very cold that morning. Mama told people I wasn't for sale because people kept asking if they could take me home with them...

Later it warmed up and I got to play with Garin. He gave me this nifty outfit. (He doesn't fit it anymore).

Uncle Steve also checked out our big sale. We gave him a discount on Daddy's orange shirt.

Last month was my first Halloween. I dressed up as a pumpkin. Mama was so tired though that she forgot to put on my matching green pants so I look a little silly. That's my pal Garin. He's a duck. Ducks go "quack quack."

Finally! Aunt Carolyn comes down from Virginia and I finally get to spend some time with her. Mama talks about her all the time. We had a grand time together: she took me to the aquarium and a historic house and for lunch...

6 Month Superstar! Finn turns 1/2 Year!

We have lots of catching up to do as the months of September and October were busy for Finn. In September Finn got to attend his buddy Garin's 1-year birthday party and then he got a special visit from Grandpa and Mimi. He showed them all his new tricks: rolling over on both sides (and now continuously which makes him dangerously mobile), eating solid foods (sweet potatoes and peas), new "words" (more like loud screeches) and almost sitting up on his own. In October Finn turned 6 months old and he also got to attend Uncle Steve and Uncle Ken's committment ceremony where he flirted with all the women. He's full of laughs and also a little crankiness as his gums are getting ready to cut some teeth.

Garin's First Birthday party at Folly Beach.

Mama let me play in the water a bit: strange that this weird squishy stuff keeps getting caught between my toesies.

First attempt at solid food: baked pureed sweet potato.

Grandpa and Mimi took me out for dinner at a French Restaurant. Mama and Dad got to come along too. The escargot and crabcakes were delicious.

I got some new shoes. I like them lots.

Yippee! Today I turn 1/2 year old! Daddy took these pictures of me first thing in the morning!

I told Mom and Dad I'll play rugby when I get older.

"What do you do with a drunken sailor, what do you do with a drunken sailor, oh, what do you do with a drunken sailor, early in the mornin'?" (an old Irish tune)...

Steve and Ken's rehearsal dinner. I'm so excited for them I can't contain my smiles!

I decided to get all dressed up for the ceremony and party. Since this is South Carolina I wore my sailing sweater, and I just had to wear my new monkey shoes. All the ladies thought I was handsome but they wouldn't stop pinching my cheeks and giving me lipstick kisses.

Sidney my doggie got hurt. But she came home and I am helping make her better. We're pals. We have an understanding: she lets me pull her fur and I let her give me kisses.
